Social Media, Cheapest Way for Marketing

Along with internet development, social mediaalso shows a great growth. In early 90's, only few people knew about internet. But today, only few people doesn't know about internet. With great development of internet, internet usage becomes wider. From the first, internet was only used for military purposes. US military used it to divide their data but they remained to be able to access it. It was also purposed at avoiding data centralization to prevent data lost when their base was being attacked.

Following the era, people started to know e-mail, chatting through internet and social media that was developed from chattingroom. As the new millennium commenced, MIRC became so popular. People used it for chatting in some particular rooms or having private chat with people around the world. After MIRC, Friendster replaced it and instantly became quite popular among youngsters. In Indonesia, can be said as the gate of Indonesia's internet era, especially for social media. People, during the era, people started to learn and socialized through social media by sharing their feelings, pictures, even writing a testimony for their friend.

After Friendster, Facebook tailored successful era in Indonesia. Following another internet development as well as the technology, people are getting use to social media and the number of internet users are rocketing in the last past years. Moreover, mobile phone manufacturers also started to innovate by creating smartphones to facilitate internet user's needs. They produce smartphones so that people can access the internet anywhere, anytime, in which, it also gives benefits for social media development. Twitter came to Indonesia and started to dominate both internet users and social media enthusiast until today. People use Twitter to update their conditions in real time, they use it to show to their followers where they are, what they feel, nearly like a real time personal blog.

Moreover, people can also get information from wherever and whenever they are. A number of businessmen even take advantages from both Facebook and Twitter and other social networks to promote their businesses as averagely people spend 2 hours a day to do something with social media. By knowing the prime time, businessmen are able to post something in social networks to introduce their products efficiently. By using social media, businessmen only need to spend less money compared to using electronic media or print media advertisements. There are several ways to promote products or services through social media. Buzzer, a person with big number of followers in Twitter or using Twitterbot, a program used to produce automated posts via Twitter micro blogging service. But most people nowadays consider bot as spam so people use scheduled tweet by knowing the prime time in their timelines. An example of success story in marketing through social is the phenomenon of "Maicih". They only use twitter to market their products. With good strategies and right timing, the super spicy chip snack brand gains more profits with less spending.
